Thinking about playing a dragon. Thinking. Any tips?

Re: @ all the people saying ‘don’t’…
I’ve been playing Calline/Creviadormi for five+ years on and off, and the only place I’ve ever faced any scoffing or ridicule was like, once, on WRA.net, and that was from a couple of people who saw the concept in passing. Once those same people actually read her journal and saw how I played her, they shut up. And it’s not like I set out to play with or even keep happy every kind of (misguided, there are dragons everywhere, canonically) lore snob on a given server.
That said, I’ve generally had the best luck with the ol’ D&D rule of ICly, almost nobody knows, except the people who become close to her, which, hey, those are the people you want to get deep into plots with anyway! While this rule might not apply to reds or greens, playing a Bronze Flight member, it kinda helps keep her sane. Even trusted friends have cracked and tried to ask her to help change an event from their pasts, which is why she’s always been young and under-powered from the start. Girl has an uncanny gift for portals and teleporting, that’s really her only telling feature, power-wise (I love the idea of a cheery Red who’s a hella-good healer, a Green who’s like the angry militant version of Mylune…aw hell I’m getting ideas now…)…
Which is, I think, people’s REAL reason for being wary: They automatically assume you’ll be RPing an over-powered character for whom the rules of the world don’t apply. Don’t play an over-powered character for whom rules don’t apply XD Dragons are powerful characters, even when they’re young, but we’re still saving/defeating their asses left and right in game!

Does your character remember their dreams? What is a reoccurring dream your character has? Any nightmares?
As with most people, the dreams Calline remembers the most vividly tend to be the recurring ones, and she can lucid dream, and quite enjoyably!
She has a few unsettling ones though, most notably the dream of finding a baby somewhere, randomly. While for a long time she thought this must have something to do with her own want of a family, the actual imagery generally suggests a longing for emotional needs to be met, as well as longing for affection. Pretty self-explanatory, as are the recurring dreams of her birth mother listing off her flaws as she sinks into a quagmire, or the nightmares involving reliving William’s gruesome death.
Less easy to explain is the one about the tribe of men made of jello who worship her as their queen.

Her pen stilling on the page, Calline pauses at the question, grumbled at her from across the table by Keates. The mage chuckles, sitting up, stretching. She’d been taking notes on James’ journal, and the accompanying book on The Twisted Serpent nearly all day now, the popping of her joints testament to the fact. The lunch crowd was filtering out of the Keg, leaving her and the battle mender mostly alone.
“…A few,” Calline admits, smirking. Knowing the other woman wouldn’t truly grasp her meaning. Indeed, Keates just laughed. “I’m sure something will get him eventually, of course.”

It was a good dream. Calline couldn’t exactly say why, but it felt calming, good. She was walking through the house in Dalaran, bare feet padding on the marble floors, trailing her fingers over her fathers’ books. Afternoon sun slanted in through the arches, the mountains around Dalaran lit bright…
.
She woke up slowly, languidly, being pulled into a strong, warm embrace. Fingers sliding along her skin seemingly without an agenda. Before she was really fully aware, her eyes slipped back shut, a pleased hum on her lips as she turned, nuzzling her face into the inviting warmth of his chest under the piles of blankets and sheets. Dawsons’ low chuckle was what stirred her to further wakefulness, looking up at him hazily, as he curled a long lock of her blonde hair around his fingers.
“Morning, beautiful,” He murmured, a smile on his lips, his gaze softer than usual, studying her almost, languidly and…fondly. She couldn’t fight the soft, sleepy smile she responded with, shoving a thousand warning sirens to the back of her mind stubbornly, tilting her chin up as he drew her in for a kiss.

Best Time Ever:
Her first time was actually pretty amazing. A beautiful night in Ashenvale, under the stars, a nice attentive worgen boyfriend who was absolutely all about her shapely frame….yeah, it was pretty spectacular.
Worst Time Ever:
…As much as there was to love about Tanaris, the sand made things. Interesting. There were a few rough nights in the house, before Calline figured out the right charm to put on the place to keep it sand-free.
From the realm forums thread: Your Character is now an NPC
(Oh god danceswithghouls was so good, I'mma do it for my 3 main gals at least. Izzy’s will take a bit more thought though cause, well, there’s so much backstory to choose from. Calline, however…)
Where do players find them? What are they doing?
In Stormwind, depending upon the time of day, Calline can be found either outside the Orphanage, or among a cloud of neophytes in the Mage District. She’s in her Aldor armor, and, obviously, she is the first NPC to get a proper half-elf model.
Do they give any quests? If so, what are they for?
There’s a very specific book (Secrets Of The Key Lines, vol.1), which pops up in random places around the mage district, and it starts her quest. After completion, it’ll be a Weekly.
! Careless “Students” (Weekly)
<On offering the woman her book, she breathes a dramatic sigh of relief, clutching it close>
YOU FOUND IT!!!
I swear (hero), up and coming magi can be some of the most scatterbrained students. Er, not me, of course. I was the picture of ….not-being-scatterbrained.
<Calline clears her throat loudly>
…Say, I don’t suppose I could trouble you to keep an eye out in your travels, for my other volumes? I loan them out to my students all the time, and so many don’t make it back to me. I’d hate to see some of that knowledge in the wrong hands!
Objective:
Collect all 12 of Calline Firebrand’s volumes. Volumes are dropped by enemies in heroic instances.
- Flavor text on the stack is “Lady Calline has notes written all through the margins, both academic and personal. Did she really loan these out..?”
—
Turn-in:
<Calline gives you a brilliant smile, and you may find yourself blushing>
“Oh you’re a dear! Honestly. These kids.”
<clears her throat again>
—
Reward:
Lvl-appropriate gold.
Lvl-appropriate XP.
Tokens for your profession vendors, and the veeeery rare chance of dropping (Slightly-Singed Librarian’s Robes), which is an obtusely-stylish, highly-rendered golden dress. What librarian ever would wear that thing.
It’s a BoE blue, too. Newest gold-suck on the AH of RP servers.
What do they say when we talk to them?
Clicking on her, players would hear various hilarious allusions to her true form “Chromie would like you! …I mean, who wouldn’t?” (in direct contrast to how I actually play her, in that the only people she has ever told/hinted it to are select unit members/all of two romantic partners). She also has Mylune’s enthusiasm (but eccentric, not ditzy).
Would there have been any past appearances in the game where we saw them (as in earlier content)?
You can’t interact with her, but her model shows up alongside all the other gals wandering around The Caverns of Time in Elegant Robes. There was also a mage with her name in Dalaran, who rolled her eyes every time Rhonin started yelping again.

Calline looks up, blinking.
Dangling off three of his fingers, there’s a pair of men’s tight and shorts, a whiff of lace that barely passes as clothing, underwear or not, and….a utility belt.
In the hazy morning light, Angela and Calline share a glance, kind of the same deadpan look on their faces. Calline snorts, shaking her head, “…You just wanted to say that out loud, didn’t you?”
A wink, fingerpistols, and both women bust out laughing.

sagolii-sandcat asked:
Her aunt is the one to find her bones, curled around her parents’ graves, and bring them back to the Caverns. No, that place mightn’t have ever felt like her home, but it’s proper….it’s where the Children of Nozdormu belong…though, Creviadormi’s mother had always made it quite clear, she’d never belonged.
In her heart, her aunt knows she should leave some part of Crevia lying in the quiet green cemetery that had once been battle-worn, plagued Andorhal. She buries a few of the scales beside Alice and Jae’vin, and brings the rest of her home.
Mortals die. So do the long-lived, as her mate had on Argus. All the dear, but essentially fleeting humans, elves, and such that Creviadormi had surrounded herself with, all gone. All dead, their children dead with them. This was the danger of growing too attached, of not accepting what you were.
It had driven her mad, and then broken her heart, until she’d curled up in a sepulchre with the remains of the fleeting mortal couple who’d raised her, and let herself die.
“But perhaps…”
Crevia’s Aunt paused, eyes cast to the remains of a small stone hut in Tanaris, that looked over the dunes and out to the sea. And instead of taking her back to the Caverns like some final insult, she rests her bones under the sun she’d loved so much.
“Perhaps fleeting affections were better than none at all, niece.”

Do you mean in lore or in rp?
In RP, I feel bad for the people who choose to play them, because the RP police get their knickers in a twist. There are people who seem to think making a dragon character inherently means making some kind of bland, overpowered, uninteresting character which just isn’t true.
In lore, I love them to piece. My only qualm about them is that Blizzard set up this really (in my opinion) awesome naming convention per flight and then just DOESN’T STICK TO IT. It literally grills my goose whenever a dragon doesn’t fit the naming convention, which is silly, but like the idea that they all have similar names I really liked so??
My experience, one person RPs a Dragon well and inspires five people to play it (because “omg, so cool”)—-but those five do it horribly and the one good RPer retcons the character out of shame.

This was a plague on the chain of private servers I was involved with. they kept denying me the dragon I wanted. When I finally got it, they felt like shit because I made it my prerogative to help people IC, and form a battalion of heroes (kinda like Krasus) of every shape and form.
My only gripe in the dragon RP is how people can’t seem to understand how far and few certain flights are. The green flight is the most abundant, with red under it. Blue and black are almost extinct, yet all I see are blue dragons.
I wish other people would RP the other flights like myself and a few pals I know on WrA.
Would honestly RP a dragon if I didn’t feel I would stain the more experienced.
In my experience, the secret to playing a dragon is the age-old DND rule: Nobody (ICly) knows XD
Except, of course, the people intrinsically involved in their life. The only people presently who ICly know Calline is a Bronze is her bf, one of my alts, her two mentors, and one mentor’s wife.
It’s fun for ME, it adds depth, and for the people in the know there’s a layer to their relationship with her that’s very fun as well. But, again…a dragon in disguise does not go around talking about it, (except to v. important heroes ;D)
